What is this calculator for?

This calculator turns an overall amount and your target weightings into directly actionable purchases. Search for a company, choose its exchange or enter its ISIN, then indicate the shares already held. The « New strategy » mode applies each weight to the amount; the « Top up my existing positions » mode moves the portfolio closer to its targets through purchases alone, without selling. The weights stay literal: a total below 100% keeps the uninvested balance, while a total above 100% blocks the calculation. Prices may be delayed by 15 to 20 minutes, and currencies are converted using the latest available rates. The result assumes that your broker accepts fractional shares; check this before placing your orders.

Portfolio weighting calculator

This free tool helps you split your capital across your stocks according to the weight of each position, down to the cent. Enter the total amount to invest, add your stocks by ticker or ISIN, and immediately get the amount to put into each position as well as the number of shares to buy at the market price. Perfect for building an equal-weighted portfolio or a custom allocation, in euros as well as in dollars.

What is portfolio weighting?

Weighting is the weight of each stock in your portfolio, expressed as a percentage of total capital. An equal-weighted portfolio gives the same weight to each stock; a custom allocation adjusts these weights according to your strategy and your conviction.

How do you split your capital across several stocks?

For an equal split, divide the total amount by the number of positions; for a tailored allocation, set a target weight per stock. The calculator performs this calculation instantly and rounds to a whole number of shares using the live price, so that the amount invested is exact.

Why balance the weights of your portfolio?

Controlled weighting limits the concentration of risk on a single stock and makes it easier to rebalance your portfolio regularly. It’s a key habit of rigorous, disciplined management of your stock-market investments.
